Beyond filling vacancies

Build the hiring capability your growth plan needs.

This is not a CV-sending transaction. Scaling Renewables works alongside your business to understand the pressure, solve the immediate problem and leave stronger internal capability behind.

Where growth gets stuck

Which of these sounds familiar?

Start with the business problem rather than trying to choose a package. Open any challenge to see how Scaling Renewables could help—and use the conversation to work out what is actually needed.

01We can’t find the engineers we need.

What is happening

Critical roles stay open, the same candidates circulate through agencies and growth plans begin to depend on people who have not been hired yet.

What better looks likeA more credible route to scarce talent and better information for the hiring decision.

How Scaling Renewables can help

  • Clarify the real technical and behavioural requirement
  • Sense-check the role, salary and candidate proposition
  • Map relevant employers and specialist talent pools
  • Run focused direct search and candidate engagement
  • Give leaders honest, evidence-led market feedback

02Our managers are spending too much time recruiting.

What is happening

Technical leaders are sourcing, chasing feedback, coordinating interviews and managing candidates alongside the work they were actually hired to do.

What better looks likeManagers stay involved in the decisions that matter without carrying the entire recruitment workload.

How Scaling Renewables can help

  • Take ownership of vacancy briefings and hiring activity
  • Coordinate candidates, interviews and decisions
  • Create clearer roles for managers and internal teams
  • Improve communication without adding more meetings
  • Provide useful pipeline visibility to leadership

03Agency fees are becoming unsustainable.

What is happening

Recruitment has become a series of separate transactions, with little retained knowledge, limited direct capability and a new fee attached to every successful hire.

What better looks likeMore control over recruitment spend and a capability that becomes stronger with each search.

How Scaling Renewables can help

  • Build credible direct sourcing routes
  • Use agencies selectively rather than by default
  • Improve vacancy prioritisation and briefing quality
  • Retain candidate pipelines and market knowledge
  • Create reporting that shows what is and is not working

04We don’t need a full-time Talent Partner yet.

What is happening

The hiring need is real, but permanent recruitment headcount would be premature, difficult to justify or unable to flex with project demand.

What better looks likeThe benefit of an internal Talent Partner without committing to permanent overhead before the business is ready.

How Scaling Renewables can help

  • Add experienced capacity only where it is needed
  • Work inside the business under the client’s brand
  • Support founders, leaders or a stretched People team
  • Flex between delivery, planning and process improvement
  • Prepare the function for an eventual internal handover

05Our recruitment and onboarding processes aren’t keeping up with growth.

What is happening

Hiring depends on individual managers, ownership becomes unclear after the contract is signed and new starters receive a different experience each time.

What better looks likeA repeatable employee journey that managers can run and the business can keep improving.

How Scaling Renewables can help

  • Review the current recruitment and onboarding journey
  • Clarify ownership across People, managers, IT and Operations
  • Design practical workflows, checklists and communications
  • Strengthen assessment, preboarding and first-90-day touchpoints
  • Support launch, manager adoption and ongoing improvement

Start with a conversation

How every engagement begins

A useful conversation before a proposal.

No off-the-shelf package is forced onto the problem. The first conversation explores the current situation, what growth is asking of the business and what has already been tried. Only then is a proportionate scope of work and proposal produced.

Straight answers

Before we talk.

What happens in a discovery conversation?

It is a no-obligation conversation about the business, current hiring or onboarding pressure, the growth plan and what has already been tried. If there is a sensible fit, the next step is a clearly defined scope of work and proposal.

How is Scaling Renewables different from a recruitment agency?

The focus is not on sending CVs and collecting a placement fee. Scaling Renewables works as a strategic talent partner inside the client’s context—solving immediate hiring problems while improving the capability, process and knowledge retained by the business.

What kind of support can be provided?

Support can range from a targeted specialist search or recruitment review to embedded Talent Partner capacity, onboarding design, manager enablement and wider talent consultancy. The appropriate mix is shaped after discovery.

Do you provide onboarding support as well as recruitment?

Yes. Alex specialises in both recruitment and onboarding. Support can include reviewing the current journey, clarifying ownership, designing practical workflows and communications, aligning the first 90 days with probation, or helping operate and embed an existing process.

Is every engagement tailored?

Yes. The scope reflects the client’s priorities, internal capacity, hiring volumes, systems, stakeholders and growth plans. Work begins only after the proposed outcomes and responsibilities are clear.

Which roles and sectors are the strongest fit?

Renewable energy, grid connections, HV, ICP, BESS, power infrastructure and related clean-energy businesses—particularly where hiring is specialist and growth is putting pressure on managers or People teams.
